ABOUT
Jo Woolley is an artist and textile designer living and working on the unceded lands of the Turrbal and Yuggera people in Meanjin/Brisbane. Creativity has always been at the centre of Jo’s life—driven by imagination, curiosity, and a deep love of colour, pattern, and making.
With a background in commercial textile design and a lifelong engagement with art, Jo is now building a body of work rooted in material exploration, texture, and storytelling. She enjoys experimenting with new techniques, working across disciplines, and stepping into the unknown to see what unfolds.
The natural world—particularly the marine environment—is a constant source of inspiration in Jo’s work. Her creative process often begins with a sense of awe and wonder, which she explores through form, material, and narrative.
Sustainability and material impact are central to Jo’s practice. She is excited by the potential of new materials and how they can be used in more thoughtful, responsible ways. She believes artists and designers have a responsibility to reduce harm and rethink how we work and make—and she is actively working toward more sustainable approaches within her own practice.
